Sites put a heart and a “join” button next to each other because both mean “come back”. They do not cost the same or return the same thing. A follow tells you, maybe, when someone goes live. A fan club charges a period of time for extras: photos, a badge, a private discount, a separate feed. Buying the club because you only wanted the doorbell is the expensive mix-up. Following someone and then feeling owed a private is the rude one.
You will see both on Stripchat, Chaturbate, and most large rooms. Fan clubs explained goes deeper on the paid side. How to follow is the free side. This page is the choice between them.
What a follow is good for
A short list of people whose schedules you care about. Paired with a time zone note and a list you prune, a follow is enough for almost all watching. Notifications should be rare. Alerts on fifty follows are not a feature. They are how you reopen the site by accident.
A follow does not buy attention, a color that matters, or a discount. Colors sometimes change when you pay, not when you heart. Do not expect a thank-you for a follow. It is a button on your account.
What a fan club is good for
You already watch this person most weeks, the extra feed is something you will open, or the private discount is larger than the subscription on the shows you were going to book anyway. Do that math once. Monthly cost is the number. If you will not book the private, the discount is fictional and you are paying for the badge. Points and badges are souvenirs. Souvenirs are allowed. They should not be confused with the show.
Cancel when the month you wanted is over. How to cancel is worth doing while you still remember the club exists. A forgotten subscription is not loyalty. It is a leak.
Neither one is a relationship
Following or joining does not obligate the model to remember you, and it does not obligate you to tip every time they go live. If you want to be remembered, be consistent and brief in the room, which is what regulars actually do. The button is not that work. If the person leaves the site, the club does not chase them. Stop the billing. A follow on an empty account does nothing. Clean it up so the list you open still means someone might be there.
Check the renewal date once
Fan clubs renew. Follows do not. The day you join, put a reminder a few days before the next charge, or cancel immediately if the site allows “use the rest of the period”. People discover clubs on a statement, not in a room. Canceling is a two-minute task that gets ugly when you have three clubs you forgot.
If the only benefit you used was a colored name, do not renew. The color did not change the show. If you used a private discount enough to cover the fee, renew on purpose, not by default. Default is how a doorbell becomes a subscription.
If a club and a follow are both offered, take the follow on the first night every time. You have not seen enough to pay a renewal. The follow tells you when they are live. After three visits you will know whether the club’s discount would have paid for itself. That is a calculation you can do with the prices on screen, not a guess you make because a button said “join” next to a heart. The heart is free. Let it stay the first step until the numbers say otherwise.
