If you open a cam site and see “due to your location, you must first create an account to validate your age”, you have hit an age-verification wall. These are becoming common, and they are not a bug.
Why it happens
A growing number of countries and US states require adult sites to check that visitors are adults before showing content. Sites respond by placing a wall in front of the lobby for visitors from those places. The same site can show a full grid to one country and a wall to the next.
What it looks like
- An account requirement before any room loads. We saw this on SlutRoulette and Sweepsex.
- An age-and-interest question on the first screen, as on Stripchat.
- A third-party age check, sometimes promising to be anonymous and quick. XLoveGay shows one.
How to handle it
Use the site’s own verification flow. If it asks for an ID or selfie, check who runs the check and what they keep. Prefer methods that confirm age without storing your document. Never send ID to a performer or by email.
Should you use a VPN?
Using a VPN to dodge a local law is your decision and your risk, and some cam sites block VPN traffic outright. We discuss the trade-offs in VPNs and cam sites.
