On token sites, tips are how the public room moves. A good tipper gets noticed and gets a better show. A confused one wastes money. Here is the etiquette that works across Chaturbate, Stripchat, CAM4 and BongaCams.
Read the room first
Every room has a topic line, a tip menu and often a goal bar. Spend a minute on them. The topic tells you what the show is about. The menu tells you what tips buy. The goal tells you what the whole room is working toward. Tipping toward the goal is the fastest way to be part of the show. We explain menus in how tip menus work.
Do
- Say hello before you ask for anything.
- Tip from the menu rather than inventing requests.
- Tip small and often if your budget is small. Performers notice regulars.
- Thank the performer when you leave.
Don’t
- Demand things in chat without tipping.
- Ask for anything the topic or menu rules out.
- Ask for contact details or off-site payment. That breaks every site’s rules and is the start of most cam scams.
- Negotiate prices in public chat.
Tips and toys
Many performers connect a toy that reacts to tips: a small tip gives a short buzz, a bigger one gives a longer pattern. It is the most direct way a tip changes the show. See tip-activated toys explained. Camsoda built much of its lobby around this.
When to move to private
If you find yourself tipping a lot for one specific thing, a private may be cheaper and better. Compare the per-minute rate with what you spent in the last ten minutes. Our public vs private guide helps you decide.
