VPNs are popular with cam viewers for privacy. They help with some things, not others.
What a VPN does
- Hides your traffic from your network or internet provider.
- Changes the country a site sees.
What it does not do
- It does not hide your account, email or payments from the cam site.
- It does not change what is legal where you live.
- It does not protect you from scams. Cam scams to avoid.
Blocks
Some cam sites block VPN and proxy traffic. The BongaCams blocks it, for example. You may see a blank page, an error, or a wall. Payment processors may also flag a mismatch between your card country and your IP.
Age checks
Changing country to avoid an age check is your decision and your risk. The honest route is the site’s own verification. Age verification explained.
A sensible setup
For most people, a separate email, a separate card and a private browser profile give more privacy than a VPN. Privacy guide.
